In today's video My Old and New Youtube Filming Setup, I went over my filming equipment, everything that I have gradually incorporated into my Youtube setup. Keep in mind that when I originally started filming Youtube videos I used two softbox lights, ring light and filmed and edited my videos (iMovie) on my iPhone. Which by the way, I still use iMovie to edit my videos. It wasn't until this past year that decided to come back to Youtube and included a reflector, whiteboards with their stands and upgraded my camera. My biggest advice if you are starting your own channel would be if you can use natural light to film your videos then do it! I think the most common misconception about filming Youtube videos is that it looks so easy lol and that you need all of these fancy lights/cameras but it is not! I promise you...it is a lot more work than you think, especially if you do not have someone to help you. I feel like with any hobby you first start off with, you don't really know if it's something you'll keep doing or if in time you'll lose interest/ excitement and not want to do it anymore. So avoid purchasing equipment if you can until you are SURE that this is something you can see yourself doing in the long run. Keep in mind like any hobby you naturally start looking into different ways to improve the quality of your videos, if that is a nicer camera, lighting, or editing software. But keep in mind that everyone has their own way of doing things and their own journey. I am definitely not tech-savvy and I have had to slowly learn how to use the lights and camera with time.
