Have you ever looked in your closet and thought to yourself grrrr, how do I pair this garment without looking like a fluffy marshmallow? Or the worst, you get ready, leave the house and somehow end up taking photos, but then realize you look like your drowning in a sea because you didn’t think to unlayer. In some cases layering is extremely essential to layer your life away but for others it’s no fun! Living in the sunshine state of California, we’re known for the great weather but to be honest I beg to differ. It sometimes feels more unpredictable than predictable.
Here are a few tips on how to layer.
My first tip is to start with your basics, leggings, and a cotton long sleeve or thermal are great starters. They’re essentially lightweight and allow you to layer on without adding too much bulk all at once.
Secondly, insulating your feet. Pairing your outfit with over the knee socks will not only keep you warm but add a bit of character. Even if you’re not intending to expose your socks, they’ll definitely keep you warm.
Third, layering another bottom over your outfit like a pair of shorts or even a skirt to add texture.
Fourth, a comfy knit sweater is always essential. It is always a good idea to keep a few knit’s in your closet for emergencies. They're great to layer over your basic tee.
Fifth, picking a cute pair of boots and even adding a great coat or blazer to tie it all together! If necessary add a cute scarf, to add some pizazz around your neck.
As you can see I created my own sporty look to fit the climate in California. I decided to layer my everyday hoodie from H&M with my nifty blazer from Zara. Along with my high rise mom jeans from Topshop and classic black heels from Zara. Lastly, pairing it all with my favorite handbag from Rebecca Minkoff.
